Welcome to my newsletter
Well, as some of you know I started writing/publishing books since the Pandemic. I got so bored and my books are how I kept going. I’m really quite excited to have an outlet for what is inside of me. Sales of my books are honestly few and far between but that’s okay. I think I’m doing a good thing in life and it does help me too.
Since last newsletter, I published another book How to Manage Incontinence & Bathroom Anxiety: A Guided Journal/Workbook for Confidence. They often say a writer should write what they know and since getting older, I do have some troubles in that area – but it has gotten much better with some professional help and much self-help to develop an action plan just for me. As I prepared my book, I realized the shame and fear associated with “making a mess”, so I wanted to make a combination guided journal and workbook to address the emotional side and working toward how to handle the physical side too (action plan).
It’s hard to believe I now have 16 published books and I’m only getting started! I have so much to write about. My procedure for writing/publishing is more efficient now with good tools and even with the help of AI, too. I like the idea of my books going on and on, after I’m long gone for anyone interested. Makes me feeling good.
As far as articles written, I’ve written a few. It’s really easy using AI and I add my personal touches and guidance to make just what I’m looking for. Some find the articles useful, and according to statistics, some aren’t interested. That’s okay too. I write to help myself and hopefully others too. As you will learn in knowing me better, I’m an inventor too – and a rather quirky one. I’m kind of like “Doc Brown” on “Back to the Future”. Again, what I write about and invent is not of much interest now, but maybe sometime. Some say I’m ahead of the time and I also hold the title of “Weirdest One in the Family”.
Articles –
· A Glimmer of Hope? Exploring Light, Sound, and Hypnosis for Alzheimer's and Dementia Treatment – I made this article, first learning of MIT’s research into Light/Sound Therapy and adding hypnosis too, using an open source tool (Virtual Hypnotist) that has been around for some time.
· Every Citizen Counts: 50 Ways You Can Help Fight Climate Change – It bothers me that we’re leaving a mess for future generations with regard to climate and the planet in general. I made my article for those who want to take action now, instead of waiting for governments/businesses to change.
· Design for the Other 90% (All the People outside of Developed Countries!) – As you read in this article, I was deeply impressed by a museum exhibition and a magazine article that focused on the rest of the world. I grew up in the U.S. and really had no idea how the rest of the world lived. This Design Concept appealed to me, since I’m a technical person and like to have action steps. I did what I could in blog posts using old patents to springboard off of. You’d be surprised how many “new” inventions are just rehashes of old inventions.
· A Look at the Cumulative Stress Monitor: A Device with the Potential to Manage Stress and Prevent Burnout - This is really an older article that I reposted in response to a post about Physician Burnout. I think we could use wearables, smart devices, AI, etc. to monitor cumulative stress and give an early warning with coaching on how to calm down and even to change long-term behavior so people don’t get so overwhelmed with life or their work as to go into depression/suicide/etc.
Going forward, please don’t expect much out of me. I’m creating these newsletters more “off the cuff” and not in a formalized way. This is the new me – trying to be not so perfect. Watch me at 77 years old!
See you next time (or not). J
